So let’s be real ladies, when you’re an entrepreneur + a wife+ a mama- a lot can get stacked onto us. Sometimes it can all become overwhelming. Sometimes our own friends and family discourage our efforts. Or may be we’ve just got things going on that are super personal, and they drain us emotionally. All these things can make us shut down. For myself, there can be times when all I want is to just shut down completely... like in my bed under my covers shut down...or... ignore everything else in my life and bury my head so far down in emails, paperwork and blogging. Being expected to fill all our roles can be tough, yes we have a business to run, but we are human.
How can we overcome these feelings and just keep pushing through? These are things that have helped me:
First and foremost, realize we aren’t ever going to be perfect and that is OK! We can still have a beautiful, successful business even in what feels like a heap of messy. Sometimes our bookkeeping will get backed up, our laundry will be sit in baskets for two weeks and our dinner will be cereal. Girlfriend, it’s ok. Life is never ever perfect.
I am giving you permission right now mama, to take time to unplug and shut down. Seem counter-productive? 100% incorrect. Taking time to shut down and unplug for our mental health at times is necessary. Just do not stay there. Take one day to yourself. In 12 hours it will all still be there. Rejuvenate your spirit, get up the next day and kick some mega tush.
Surround yourself with positivity. When we feel stressed out, we have the tendency to isolate, feeling like we have to be perfect or that no one understands. This is when we need someone the most. Find and engage in a community of people who understand. I love network marketing for this reason, you have a built in team of people who are personally invested in you and your success. They want to be there and cheer you on. My team, who have become my friends, are amazing. I can confide and look to them for support when I’m feeling down, frustrated or spent. So find a community and make friends, even if you have to third grade style. ‘Hi my name is Melissa can we be friends?!’ No one will understand like a fellow female or mom-preneur.
Remind yourself you are a bad lil lady and no matter how many times you feel knocked down you will stand up even stronger! You have what it takes. You’ve been through harder things- hello?! Having a baby. If you can do that... YOU can do anything. And yes those are the same words I also tell myself at the gym, in case you were wondering. #getitdone
