This One's for the Momtogs And Boss Babes who are #momminlikeaboss

Hey guys! So today it dawned on me that there are a ton of photographers and boss babes who are working moms just like me. Who are on their umpteenth cup of coffee (which I've totally been able to ditch recently BTW! ), sitting in their PJ's at 4 PM, hair unbrushed, wondering what the heck they've accomplished today. Trying to run her own business and do #allthethings. So I’m writing this for you! You who are burdened down. You who feel alone. You who feel like the day just flew by and ...did you even spend enough time with your baby? get enough work done? TAKE A SHOWER?! My dear momtrepeneurs, I feel you, and I'm here to tell you, you are the REAL MVP! It's never ending lists of to do's, errands, laundry, cleaning, cooking, editing, shooting, work work work work work baby ... oh and ya know, actually keeping those tiny little humans alive! Just know that I'm here, and I'm here to tell you I get it. And as I am learning and growing each day trying to figure out this mom business + being a business mom, I want to share things that are helping me! Because I want you to enjoy your LIFE, and not just feel like it's task after task or to just forget about it all. So here are my tips to de-crazy your never-ending task doing mind.
Below: our little bundle of joy, two days old!
First thing in the morning, or the evening before, plan how you will make the most of your time for the day. Make your to do list for each category of tasks you need to get done. For example for photography, house chores, personal. Then identify the top three tasks in each category. For example, blog, laundry, shower. Focus on getting those three things done, say every time your baby naps, or while your kids are at school. Don't stress if you can't get EVERYTHING done. If it's one load of laundry, or one errand, or you just shower. Focus on the victory you just accomplished.
Combine tasks. This is a good one. Say for example if you need to respond to emails, blog, or to post on social media but you have to get laundry done. We are living in an amazing technological time. What's that mean? Enter iPhone. Fold that laundry and dictate your thoughts. BAM! DONE! Or what about that course you’ve been dying to get to, or a book you’ve been wanting to read? Well mop your floors and & pop those headphones in and #getitdone. Get creative and combine those everyday chores with another task, and you'll be doing #allthethings like a boss babe pro status.
Ladies this is important! Take time for yourself each day. To enjoy a good book, a bubble bath, a face mask, etc. If you don't have time, find just TEN minutes. Wait till the kids are down, and just ten minutes before you hit the hay, do something for YOU. Something that refreshes you. You’re no good to anyone if all you are feeling is run down and spent. Self care is not selfish!
Create rules for yourself when it comes to work/emails/social media. Whatever works for your family! May be time block, set a timer for a certain amount of time and be done. Or perhaps don't work on weekends. Just remind yourself you need to enjoy those little people and the person you created them with. Don't look back one day and have regrets. The work, dishes and vacuuming will be there. Your babies will only be babies for so long. And your partner needs the same love and attention that you do. Keep your bond close because your kids need you both.
Be OK with everything not being completed! The process is a journey, you’re always going to have things to do. Don't let yourself be overwhelmed, k?! Deep breaths, and remind yourself it's going to be ok.
Please realize mamas, that overnight alllll these changes aren't going to happen. It’s going to take time to implement small changes, day by day, that ultimately will lead you to your final goal. Pat yourself on the back and squeeze your loved ones, because life is good and you are blessed with so many beautiful gifts.
